Welcome to my website and bookstore. It's my belief that book buyers will be more interested in my books if they get to know me so I'm going to give you the condensed version of my bio here. For more details read my first blog entry on this site.
I live with my husband on an acreage in Central Iowa. Our place sits in the middle of prime farm land so all summer we are hemmed in by 7 feet cornstalks on all sides of us. We have an acre and a half of hay which is enough to take care of our winter needs for a small flock of sheep and goats. We are pretty much the back to nature types with a flock of chickens for our egg supply. If we have good luck, these same chickens hatch us enough fryers to do us until the next spring. Rabbits and cats live here, too.
We loved to raise our own vegetables and have a big variety that I can and freeze so if we get snowed in during the winter, we will never go hungry. We have a variety of fruit trees in our orchard and front yard which supplies desserts. My husband tends the garden once it's planted and brings in the crops. Gives him something to do while I'm writing.
I love flowers so we have beds all around the house and along the hayfield fence line. The blooms have been beautiful this year because of lots of rain. Fall is here and it feels like winter already. Freeze warnings are out so my flowers will need to be cleared away soon.
We love to fish from our boat. There are lakes all around us. I pack a picnic lunch so we never have to leave the boat. We bob around all day. What time we decide to come home depends on how many fish we caught. The more we've caught the sooner we come home so we can clean our catch.
In the winter, my husband does chores, reads and watches television. I read, crochet, or sew. On my agenda is two baby quilts to get done by April. While I'm at it I have another book I'm working on. One thing about self publishing. There is no deadline. Sure takes the pressure off.
