Book Reviews From Readers
Christmas Traditions
This book is an informative, intelligent piece from a human interest point of view. Your writing is atmospheric and your narrative comes across as natural, believable and very vivid. Margaret is already so likeable but I'm not so sure of Levi. I think any story which helps its characters to emerge out of their self indulgent ways to great understanding and a fuller compassionate existence is worth the read.
Promise Is A Promise
You have done it again! This is a well written, intricate and richly detailed tapestry of Amish life. Maybe it's just my personal preference but I do love stories like this about a way of life based on faith, convictions and honesty. It's a beautiful story that had my rapt attention all the way through. A compelling read that I found hard to put down once started.
Review from Charlie Courtland that hosts http://www.bitsybling.wordpress.com She put this review on Goodreads and Amazon after she read my book.
GEMS: Growing up in the Mid West I loved the style and tone of the story and scenery. No purple prose or overly nostalgic descriptions but rather a simple and honest portrayal of daily life. Each character is original and thoughtfully developed. I whole heartedly enjoyed this Amish tale and believed the contrast between the Plain and English, but also how it is possible to live together with understanding, honesty and acceptance. The story is not overtly religious but rahter focuses on the complexities of relationships and because of this drew me into the Lapp family. Bitsy's Rating" 4 stars
Neighbor Watchers
In this book Fay has created the endrearing characters who reside in Moser Mansion Rest Home. The suspense starts early in the story and it's a good read to the dramatic conclusion. It's very entertaining. I want to see more of Gracie Evans and her companions!
Wow! You know how to write a mystery. But how do you top this one?
This book is This book and the rest of the series is a must. I highly recommend this series to anyone who has ever known or had a nosy elderly neighbor that seemed to ALWAYS know what is goAgatha Christie at a nursing home meets Little House On The Prairie. This review is from Luv2read in the Kindle section for Neighbor Watchers. I loved this book! The characters were so well written, it was easy to see it played out in my head as I read. Gracie was my great grandmother and Sam Elliot was the sheriff. Ha! Gracie & Melinda get into quite a few predicaments trying to "Help" solve the murder across the street. It kept me turning the page (clicking my kindle button) to find out what mischief these two adorable old ladies would get into next. This is a funny laugh out loud easy read. The books are really unique as the time period is the turn of the century.
Specious Nephew
Fay has created another mystery that is hard to put down. She has a talent for telling the story with words that make you feel the sights, sounds and events of that period. I love the characters from Moser Mansion Rest Home.
The County Seat Killer
Once I was introduced to the characters I could hardly put the book down. The women of Moser Mansion rest home are such endearing characters and the story is a good crime mystery read. I truly enjoyed it.
The Chance Of A Sparrow
Gracie is quite a character - the Miss Marple - of her geological locale.
Another great book. I enjoyed it. Gracie is so personable and you take me right there with her.
Fay has told another entertaining story in her Amazing Gracie Mystery Series. The trip back to the farm at Three Oaks provides another mystery and it's a good read right up to the end of the story.
Ella Mayfield's Pawpaw Militia - A Civil War Saga In Vernon County, Missouri
Vernon County historian says he really enjoyed reading this book. The story is right on about the way life was in Vernon County during the Civil War with all the death, destruction and hardships.
My Children Are More Precious Than Gold
This book is good reading for anyone and especially a good story for junior readers and sad, funny and dramatic.
Hello Alzheimer's Good Bye Dad
Fay tells the poignant story of her father's last ten years of life and the struggle that she and her family went through as caregivers. It contains lots of caregiver tips and information. Highly recommended for any family facing this and other healh issures.
This book has great value for families with Alzheimer's patients. There were so many times I smiled while reading and so many times that tears came.
Open A Window - Alzheimer's Caregiver Handbook
Review by Jolene Brackey - Alzheimer's speaker and author of Creating Moments Of Joy
This book shares what is possible if we allow a person with Alzheimer's to "be" who they are right now. Thank you for "opening" a window.
