I’ve entered the National Novel Write Month contest again this year and have just logged in with my total words for day two. It’s always a fun incentive to do the first draft of a book in a month and get over the fifty thousand words to be considered a winner. By the first of the year I’ll have this book ready to publish. I’ve chosen a story to add to my Amazing Gracie Mystery series titled The Wayward Preacher. Check out my blog post to see the synopsis for my book. At the end of November I'll post how I did for the seventh year in this contest. Below is the synopsis for the book. I'll keep you posted about how I did this year. Locked Rock, Iowa has a new preacher. Gracie Evans has decided the man is way too young and inexperienced to be a preacher for elderly citizens set in their ways. He wasn't too bad at preaching a sermon. She'd give him that. It was when he was saying good bye after Sunday church to the congregation that Gracie objected to his familiarity with the unmarried women as they filed out. He latched on to each young woman's hand and kept her talking to him as long as he thought he could get away with it. Gracie complained that his behavior wasn't seemly, but Melinda didn't want to hear her bad mouth the preacher. She said so what if he was wife hunting. Nothing wrong with that. All preachers need a good wife by their side. Gracie didn't intend to drop her opinions so easy. She vowed to keep an eye on the new preacher to keep him from making a fool out of the young women in town. Some mysterious things started happening since that young man arrived that might make Gracie's observations right. The young women have been whispering among their family and friends that their unmentionables have been disappearing from their dresser drawers. Weirder yet, porcelain dolls have been found on the porches of some of the young ladies the preacher flirted with. All evidence to Gracie that the town's new preacher's past should be looked into. She just might be right about him being a Wayward Preacher. |
